Current Status

In June 2008, MACHI was present for the filming of the final scenes of the puppet film "En el Camino de los Antepasados Mayas" (On the road of the Maya Ancestors). Although delayed for several weeks to receive permission from INAH for filming at Chichen Itza, the whole team was relieved to finally be able to shoot the final scenes. The first "cut" of the film was completed in June 2008. The final cut which includes music, Spanish and/or English subtitles, and comprehensive editing will be complete in August 2008. Limited distribution will occur in early Fall 2008. Wider distribution to cultural and performance groups and to schools will take place in early 2009 along with a teacher's guide and a Yucatan version of the MACHI coloring book.
