Ultimately, the purpose of MACHI is to help develop and/or enhance projects that, in some way, contribute to the protection of Maya cultural heritage in the five Maya region countries. Because of the nature and the limited amount of funding currently available to us, there are limits to what we can do. One important criterion for a MACHI project, therefore, is that it is self-sustaining (i.e., that it will not require recurring funding for an indefinite period of time). A fruitful arena in this regard seems to be that of education and so our primary focus will be on educational projects, although by no means are we limiting ourselves to them. Here is a list of past, current/on-going, and future MACHI projects. Each link will take you to the respective project page where you can find out what it’s about, and the current status of the project. |
Educational Projects These following projects constitute the crux of MACHI, which, as is outlined in our mission statement, puts the utmost emphasis on grassroots education as a means to promote the preservation of cultural heritage.
